What is LEGO Ambassadors?

LEGO Ambassadors is a community based program made up of adult LEGO hobbyists who share their construction, product, and event knowledge with the world-wide LEGO community.

Are LEGO Ambassadors employees of the LEGO Group?

No. LEGO Ambassadors are not LEGO Group employees. LEGO Ambassadors contribute to the LEGO Fan community without the promise, expectation, or receipt of compensation. The LEGO Ambassadors Program is an officially recognized community based program of the LEGO Group.

What criteria does the LEGO Group use to select Ambassadors?

The LEGO Group selects those who we think best exemplify the program fundamentals of building proficiency, enthusiasm, and professionalism towards the public, other fans and the LEGO Group towards the LEGO Group, the LEGO Community, and the general public.

Do LEGO Ambassadors concentrate on a single product line?

No, typically LEGO Ambassadors members concentrate on the full LEGO range. However, some LEGO Ambassadors members specialize in one style of building (Sculpture, trains, mosaic) or one product line (Bionicle, Mindstorms). LEGO Ambassadors members are encouraged though not required to span as many product lines as possible.

What does the LEGO Group require from LEGO Ambassadors?

All LEGO Ambassadors members are expected to exemplify the program fundamentals of building proficiency, enthusiasm, and professionalism towards the public, other fans, the LEGO community and the LEGO group. In addition, LEGO Ambassadors members agree to be active contributors to the LEGO world-wide community by:

Contributing regularly to online discussions
Participate in local user groups, or help to start one in the local area
Advise new fans just joining the hobby

What benefits does a LEGO Ambassador receive?

The LEGO Group offers the following awards to all LEGO Ambassadors members:

LEGO product
The ability to use the LEGO Ambassadors logo in email/forum post footers and in other contexts
Pre-launch product information
Access to LEGO Group via mailing list and quarterly conference call with various groups inside the company
Access to the private LEGO Ambassadors community forums
Invitations to participate in top-secret projects
Invitations to participate in local LEGO marketing events
Name listed on LEGO.com under the LEGO Ambassadors area

Does this cost money?

No. This is a free program.

How do I join LEGO Ambassadors?

A person interested in being a member of LEGO Ambassadors should send an email to ambassadorprogram@lego.com with the following information:

A detailed list of places where they contribute to the LEGO community
Links to your personal Web site and/or LEGO creations galleries
An overview of your offline LEGO activities

The LEGO Group receives applications from many qualified individuals; unfortunately, not all applicants can be accepted into LEGO Ambassadors. LEGO Ambassadors spots are up for review every twelve (12) months, so if you aren't accepted you can always increase your community efforts and re-apply.
