Doug Eaton is 41 and lives in the burbs of Boston, MA, USA.
He is married and has 4 kids ages 10, 9, 8 and 8.
He has been part of NELUG for the last 4 ever since he moved into the New England area.
Prior to that, he lived in Ottawa, Canada where he was and continues to be an active member of ParLUGment.
He spent most of his childhood building with LEGO starting at the age of five when his father presented him with his first set for Christmas.
His father needed an excuse to play and children are a great excuse.
He spent most of my money into his teen years buying LEGO but stopped and entered the Dark Ages when he finally
listened to my mother who kept saying "You are too old to play with toys."
Dark Ages ended when he received a Mindstorms set, went searching for more info and found Lugnet.
The local group listings got him linked in to ParLUGment in Ottawa.
He attended a train show they were presenting at and decided to make an L guage layout in his basement rather
than the HO layout he had been planning.
As he puts it, "Reworking ABS is much easier than reworking plaster when you make a mistake."
He has been stockpiling brick for the last few years anticipating the day he has space for a permanent layout.
Currently, every building session starts with several hours in the basement looking through storage for the required pieces.
This is one reason he likes robotics.
Writing a new program only takes reloading the software which can be significantly easier than finding parts in his basements.
