In January 1972, Richie Dulin received his first LEGO set, followed soon by his second. As the years went by, his collection grew, and his interests broadened.

Although he was initially horrified by such innovations as minifigs, technic and Legoland Space, he soon grew to embrace Lego’s growth.

Richie’s first LEGO love is Pirates, and although pirates is not a hugely popular theme, he likes to think of it as ‘everyone’s second favourite theme’. He has an extensive collection of Lego ship building materials, from which he turns out everything from small cutters to 30 gun frigates. His greatest shipbuilding feat, the French frigate Misérable, was the subject of an article in the third issue of Brick Journal.

Richie is an Australian, and lives in a northern suburb Sydney. He was the first Lego Ambassador from Australia, and is now in his third term. The highlight of Richie’s Ambassadorship to date was giving, in the absence of LEGO employees, the Key Note Address at the Australian national LEGO gathering, Brickvention, in Melbourne in 2006.
